Q.Pest & Weed Management
How do I identify corn rootworm damage?
A.
Corn rootworm damage shows as goose-necked or lodged corn (stalks bent at the base where roots have been pruned), reduced yields, and root systems with chewed/missing nodal roots when dug up. Adult beetles feed on silks during pollination. Manage with crop rotation (corn-soybean), Bt rootworm hybrids, and seed treatments.
Variety review pages cover Bt-rootworm hybrids.
