Q.Cover Crops

How does a cover crop benefit my farm pond?

A.

Cover crops on fields draining to the pond reduce sediment and nutrient runoff, which improves pond water quality and reduces algal blooms. Bank vegetation (grass strips, native plantings) further filters runoff. Combined effect: clearer water, healthier fish habitat, slower silting in the pond.
