Q.Frost Dates & Planting Timing
What crops can survive a frost?
A.
Frost-tolerant crops: peas, spinach, lettuce, kale, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, parsnips, leeks, onions, radishes, turnips. Many tolerate light frost (32°F) without damage; some (kale, brussels sprouts) actually improve in flavor after frost. Frost-sensitive: tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, basil, beans, cucumbers, squash, melons.
Crop calendar pages include frost tolerance ratings for every crop. Check your county frost dates for your local timing.
