Q.Dairy & Homestead Animals
How do I milk a cow by hand?
A.
Wash the udder, sit on the cow's right side, grasp a teat between thumb and forefinger to seal off the top, then squeeze down sequentially with remaining fingers to express milk. Alternate teats. A skilled milker can milk a Jersey in 8-15 minutes. Practice patience — both you and the cow need to learn the routine.
