Q.Soil Health & Amendments
How do I lower soil pH?
A.
Apply elemental sulfur or aluminum sulfate. Elemental sulfur is slower (months) but cheaper and longer-lasting; aluminum sulfate works faster but can build up aluminum toxicity. Typical rates are 1-3 lbs sulfur per 100 sq ft to move pH down by 1 point. Always re-test after 6-12 months before reapplying.
Lowering pH is much harder than raising it; only do it for specific high-value acid-loving crops.
