Q.Soil Health & Amendments
How do I raise soil pH?
A.
Apply agricultural lime (calcium carbonate) at the rate recommended by your soil test — typically 1-3 tons per acre to move pH up by 1 point. Pelletized lime is fast-acting (months); standard ag lime works over 6-12 months. Dolomitic lime adds magnesium too. Spread evenly and incorporate into the top 4-6 inches of soil for fastest effect.
Crop calendar timing recommendations cover when to lime based on planting plans.
