Q.Soil Health & Amendments
What pH should my soil be for vegetables?
A.
Most vegetables want soil pH 6.0-7.0. Slightly acidic exceptions: blueberries (4.5-5.5), potatoes (5.0-6.0). Slightly alkaline tolerant: brassicas (up to 7.5). Outside the optimal range, plants struggle to absorb nutrients even when soil is fertile. Pull a soil test, then adjust before planting.
Crop calendar pages include soil pH recommendations per crop.
